Medals, Medals & More Medals

A big congrats to all our Juniors, Seniors and Masters who took part in the National Still Water Championships in Limerick on Valentine’s Day.

Out of a field of over 250 athletes, Cork was represented by thirty nine competitors and while everyone did not win medals we can honestly say that everyone competed to the best of his or her ability.

The outstanding performances were had by our masters team who were crowned All Ireland Indoor Champions for 2015.
 

The Individual Medalists in this category were:
  • Tom O’Herlihy (50+) – One Gold and Two Silver
  • Jean Luc Morales (50+) – Two Gold and One Silver
  • Justin Crowley (30-39) – One Bronze
  • Oonagh Brady (30-39) – Two Silver and One Bronze
  • Helen Silke (30-39) – Two Bronze
The Ladies Senior Team ended up Second Overall behind Clare Ladies with Medals being won by:
  • Nancy Edmead – Bronze in the Super Life Saver
  • Brodie Edmead – Bronze in the Rescue Medley plus a Team Bronze in the Medley Relay
The Senior Men ended up 7th overall and still made it to the 18th Birthday on time!!
Cork Junior Boys A overcame injury to finish up 5th overall with outstanding performances from
  • Nathan Holding who finished third in the Manikin Tow with Fins and Second in the Manikin Carry with Fins.
  • Caimin Crowley and Connell O’Herlihy took Silver in the Rope Throw.
  • Cork Junior Boys B had to deal with a sick team mate but with strong performances from Sean, Dean, Seamus and super sub Killian did really well to finish up 7th overall!!
We had a total of four Cork Junior Girls Teams who were nearly all competing at this level for the first time.
  • Gill McGurr finished up 13th overall in this very competitive category.
  • Ellen Brooks and Mary O’Donnell won Bronze in the Rope Throw.

Our next competition will be the Munster Still Water Nipper (age 8-14) Championships which will take place in Fermoy Pool on Saturday March 7th.
