Congratulations to Cork Surf Life Saver Erika McCarthy from Clonakilty who received a SEIKO “Just In Time” Award recently from Irish Water Safety. On 25th August 2015, two swimmers got caught in a rip current on Inchydoney Beach in West Cork, and were in danger of drowning. Erika responded quickly and performed a successful rescue. As a result, she was presented with the Rescue Award by Mr. Alan Kelly TD, Minister of Environment, Community and Local Government and Ms. Breda Collins, Chairman of Irish Water Safety at a ceremony in Dublin Castle.
