Stillwater Nippers Competition 2018!!

Good luck to all our Nippers competing in the Munster Stillwater Lifesaving Competition at the University of Limerick Pool tomorrow. With a squad of nearly sixty boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 14 years of age it is the strongest squad we have fielded to date.
Remember to enjoy the day and just keep swimming. Warm up at midday.

Some Important things to remember!!!

What to bring to this weekend’s Munster Nipper Championships:
Fins with your Name / Number clearly printed
Togs and Towels
Shorts, T-Shirt and Pool Shoes / Flip Flops
Goggles and spare Goggles if you have them
Cork Surf Life Saving Swim Hat
Lots of Water, Drinks, Light Lunch, Snacks, Jellies

Cork Masters Win Gold

 

Congratulations to the following Cork Masters who also won All Ireland Medals at the weekend. Anne Kingston won Silver in the 100m Manikin Tow with Fins and Gold in the 100m Manikin Carry with Fins. Anders Inglesten brought home Bronze in the 100m Manikin Tow with Fins. Kieran Coffey came second and Martin Magee Donegal finished third in the 100m Obstacle. Finally Justin Crowley wins Gold and Ian Holding wins Silver in the 100m Manikin Carry with Fins. Justin also set a new National Record in this event. Great to see such a brilliant victory. Congratulations from all at CWS.

Warning: Jelly Fish

Storm Ophelia’s course from the Azores may have swept lethal Portuguese men o’ war onto the Irish coastline.

NUI Galway (NUIG) zoologist Dr Tom Doyle has appealed to shore walkers, surfers, swimmers and fish farmers to exercise caution. He also appealed for recorded sightings of the marine animals.

Farm Safety Talk

Cork Water Safety held a farm Safety Talk in Tir Na Sli in Watergrasshill Co Cork.

A big thank you to Pop O’ Hara Cork Water Safety and Caroline Casey Cork County Council Roads & Water Safety Devolvement officer, as well as the Lord Mayor of Cork for giving such a valuable talk and support.
Also a big thank you to Julia & Paul of Tir Na Sli who allow us the use of their farm it for these talks through out the year.

The talks incl RSA,An Garda,Irish Water Safety,with Guest Speaker Padraigh Higgins whose son had drowned on their Farm.The talks are given to schools from all over Cork.The schools in the photos are St Joesphs Primary School Fermoy, Milford Primary School & Curraghglass Primary School total children attended was 140.All schools then did a tour of the Farm after their talks have finished.

Beach Lifeguard Awards Ceremony 2017

The Summer is nearly over and the beach lifeguards have had a busy time. But last Monday evening Aug. 21st an Awards Ceremony took place at the Crosshaven RNLI Station in Co. Cork.

Munster Nipper and Junior Championships 2017 in Youghal


 

 

Cork Water Safety and Cork Surf Life Saving would like to welcome Clare and Waterford Life Saving Clubs to Claycastle Beach in Youghal for the Munster Nipper and Junior Championships which will take place this Saturday August 12th and Sunday August 13th. Life Savers from as young as 7 will compete for places in the All Ireland Final which will take place in Curracloe, Co. Wexford later in the month. With nearly 550 Nippers and Juniors registered to compete, the Munster Final is the biggest competition on the Irish Surf Life Saving event calendar and well worth a visit if you are in the area!
