Cork Primary Schools Water Safety Webinars

Cork County Council & Cork Sports Partnership are hosting 3 Water Safety Education Webinars for Primary School Children from 2nd to 6th class. Cork County Council Water & Road Safety Development Officer Caroline Casey will cover safety tips and advice in advance of the Summer Holidays!

Topics Include:

  • 14 Steps to Keeping Safe around Water this Summer
  • The Beach Lifeguards in County Cork
  • Dangers of using Inflatable toys at the beach, river or lake
  • How to call the Emergency Services
  • How to recognise Dangerous parts of the sea like currents
  • Meet A Beach lifeguard and get a chance to ask some questions
  • Responsible decision making
  • Hear Padraig’s story about his son James

Recent Beach Guard intake Summer 2023

Well done to the recent intake of Beach Guard award participatiants who completed their training and passed their exam over the summer. ????????????‍♀️????

Candidates were selected from Cork Surf Lifesaving Club ????⚪

To gain their awards as to increase a high standard with knowledge of the Surf, rescue board training, CPR training and advanced first aid response.

Each candidate can now apply for positions with Cork County Council as well as applying to county councils around the country to Lifeguard Irelands beautiful beaches ⛱.

Beach Lifeguard Awards Ceremony 2017

The Summer is nearly over and the beach lifeguards have had a busy time. But last Monday evening Aug. 21st an Awards Ceremony took place at the Crosshaven RNLI Station in Co. Cork.

Munster Nipper and Junior Championships 2017 in Youghal



Cork Water Safety and Cork Surf Life Saving would like to welcome Clare and Waterford Life Saving Clubs to Claycastle Beach in Youghal for the Munster Nipper and Junior Championships which will take place this Saturday August 12th and Sunday August 13th. Life Savers from as young as 7 will compete for places in the All Ireland Final which will take place in Curracloe, Co. Wexford later in the month. With nearly 550 Nippers and Juniors registered to compete, the Munster Final is the biggest competition on the Irish Surf Life Saving event calendar and well worth a visit if you are in the area! Cork Winter Weeks Programme 2016

Do you want to become a lifeguard or just learn some skills that could help save someone’s life?
We are hosting water safety and lifesaving classes throughout the city and county for our Winter Weeks Programme. Check out the details below 🙂
Safety, Endurance, and Rescue courses cost €70 per person.
Brookfield Leisure Centre:
Enrollment is on Tuesday 13th September from 20:30.
Classes start on Tuesday 20th September from 21:00.

CORK WATER SAFETY is a voluntary organisation that runs swimming, lifesaving and Basic Life Support courses in numerous locations throughout Cork City and County.

Cork Summer Weeks Programme 2016


Want to make the most of your time at the beach this summer? Why not sign up for a Swim & Safety course at one of Cork’s beautiful beaches!

The 5 day Swim & Safety courses each cost €30 per child, and €20 per following child from the same family who are attending also.

For example, three children from the same family attending a Summer Weeks course will cost €70 (€30 [first child] + €20 [second child] + €20 [third child])

To help secure a place on one of these courses you can get in touch with the Area Contact for your location. Also, details to specific locations can be obtained from the Area Contacts e.g. start times, meeting points, etc. You can find the phone numbers of the Area Contacts below.

Young children can participate at any age once they’re comfortable with entering the water.
